Cervical cancer (CC) is the most common cancer and the leading cause of cancer-related mortality in Tanzanian women. In 2020 the age-standardized incidence rate per 100,000 women was 62.6, and of all cancers diagnosed in women in Tanzania, 40% are cervical cancer. Cervical cancer (CC) is one of the most preventable and treatable forms of cancer if it is detected and treated early The World Health Organization has called for the elimination of CC by the end of the century and set three intermediate targets: to vaccinate 90% of girls by the age 15 against high-risk variants of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), to screen 70% of women aged 35-49 years and to treat 90% of women with pre-cancer and cancer by 2030.
